Former Bank of England senior adviser appointed chairman of HAUS Da Lat

The developer of the HAUS Da Lat real estate project has announced the appointment of Michael Sheren as chairman of its board of directors, marking a significant step toward strengthening corporate governance and reinforcing the brand’s long-term commitment to ESG principles from the outset.

Michael Sheren, a British national, holds senior positions across several international sustainable finance platforms. He serves as Vice-Chair of the Banking Environment Initiative, is a Fellow at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, and acts as Senior Adviser to the UNDP Sustainable Finance Hub, contributing to efforts aimed at integrating sustainability standards into global financial markets.

Prior to this role, Sheren was a member of the World Economic Forum’s Expert Group on Sustainable Governance. He also served as a senior adviser at the Bank of England, where he provided strategic counsel and independent oversight to senior management on risk, governance and operational issues within the financial system, particularly those related to climate change and sustainability standards.

In his climate-focused work, Sheren has been actively involved in initiatives aimed at “greening” the global financial system. He co-chaired the G20 Sustainable Finance Study Group, served as a U.K. delegate to the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), contributed to digital green bond initiatives at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Innovation Hub, and co-founded the Bank of England’s Fintech Accelerator.

With more than 25 years of experience in international capital markets, Sheren specializes in the structuring, distribution and trading of private equity, commercial real estate and structured debt for leading financial institutions in New York and London. His background offers a strategic advantage in bridging traditional finance with ESG standards that are reshaping the industry.

Sheren holds master’s degrees from Harvard University, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and New York University (NYU), as well as a bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University.

As chairman of HAUS Da Lat, Sheren said he will work closely with the developer and the HAUS brand to strengthen governance foundations, advance green finance initiatives, promote sustainable development and ensure consistent implementation of the project’s ESG roadmap.

The One Destination is a pioneer in ESG-oriented real estate development in Vietnam, with a nationwide portfolio of large-scale projects and land holdings, including HAUS Da Lat on the shores of Xuan Huong Lake, a cultural and heritage landmark in Da Lat.

The project will feature 68 freehold Sky Villas and Sky Mansions, a commercial center, and the five-star InterContinental HAUS Da Lat resort complex. Construction is currently underway, with HAUS Residences scheduled for delivery in late 2027.

Lam Dong Province authorities expect HAUS Da Lat to help elevate Da Lat and the province onto the global tourism map through collaborations with leading international partners, including architectural and landscape design firm Kengo Kuma and Associates (KKAA); award-winning architectural lighting studio Isometrix Lighting & Design; luxury interior designer 1508 London; wellness brand Chiva-Som; and Copper Beech, an operational consultant behind exclusive residential developments for world leaders, billionaires and royalty.
